It has developed products such as Atermit fiber cement asbestos and non-asbestos sheets, EPS filled sandwich panels, and isothermite with its own R&D studies and presented it to the Turkish market for the first time. Apart from this, it has always improved its current products with patented utility model designs such as safety strip, forehead coating detail, in order to produce the better in a more economical way.
Atermit, which always supports the cooperation between the Academy and the Private Sector, carried out its research on fiber cement with Istanbul Technical University in 2006 in Sao Paolo, Brazil and 2008 in Madrid, Spain at the IIBCC (International Inorganic Bonded Composite Conference, International Inorganic Bonded Composites Conference). He presented these presentations in scientific journals and published them as articles in scientific journals. In 1996, the first projected EPS fillers block application in Turkey was developed together with Çukurova University and it was successfully used in the construction of Çukurova University Faculty of Architecture.

Improvements made in EPS glass machines and machines that produce single layer metal roofing materials were supported by TÜBİTAK.
Every year, trainings on roof and facade cladding products are given to architecture and engineering students at various universities in Turkey on a regular basis. Istanbul Technical University, Yıldız Technical University, Kültür University, Arel University, Çukurova University and Istanbul Zincirlikuyu Construction Technical and Vocational High School have been among the educational institutions that have been trained so far.
“Lean production” principles, which were developed after working with Toyota, are applied in Atermit facilities.
Kai-Zen means continuous improvement in Japanese. It is a concept used to express continuous and small developments that can be valid in all areas of business life. Kaizen’s recommendations can be applied in areas such as production, occupational health and safety, quality and ergonomics. Of course, it is not limited to these. All suggestions from white and blue collar personnel at Atermit factories are evaluated by the Kaizen board. Suggestions that are found suitable are realized within the determined time frame and those who make suggestions are rewarded according to a system suitable for Kaizen.
Kaizen meetings are held every month. Awards are distributed every three months at each factory. 5S is a philosophy that helps people achieve success and happiness in both their professional and private lives. At Atermit, the basic principles of 5S are applied to increase the efficiency of our staff and to minimize the error rate. Below are the concepts that make up the 5S.
Seiri: Classification (extraction)
Seiton: Editing (embedding)
Seiso: Cleaning
Seiketsu: Standardization
Shitsuke:Discipline (following the rules and ensuring continuity)
With 5S,
1. Accidents and injuries are eliminated.
2. The opportunity to work more efficiently is created in a clean and orderly workplace.
3. Time losses are stopped.
4. Problems are identified earlier and the error rate is reduced.
5. Machine failures are reduced, technical performance is increased.
6. Efficient use of all areas is ensured.
All technical personnel are trained according to lean production principles and the results are shared with other factories.
